Meeting Summary from 6 October 2023

The North Saddle Creek BID meeting was held in person at Dino's on 72nd on Friday, October 6, 2023, at 9:00 AM. In attendance were Joshwa Hannum, April Jackson, Molly Kliment-Jenkins, Steve Pham, and Eric Janosek.

The meeting began promptly at 9:00 AM, with the primary focus on Art Concepts centered around Bruce Rosenbaum's Steampunk aesthetic. He proposed fusing the past and present, with Instagram-worthy moments and potential revenue generation opportunities with the goal was to connect both ends of the business district and explore kinetic, sound, sensory, and interactive experiences. He further explained his process which includes research, budget considerations, and incorporating physical objects from the past. Renewable energy sources were also discussed. The board acknowledged the reliance on philanthropic sources for funding and that it would also be great to consider local artists, but not those who are involved with other public art projects in Omaha.

Security measures were another key topic, with a focus on LVT stand-alone security systems, D3 optical cameras, thermal cameras, lights, loudspeakers, solar power, notification features, and analytics. Stallion Infrastructure was considered for jobsite surveillance, along with options like Flock Safety and Backstreet Surveillance.

Josh reported discussions with Tom at OPPD regarding moving certain elements underground.

The meeting also raised concerns about tree trimming and pole placement during redevelopment.

A forthcoming meeting with property owners to discuss Streetscape and the NBD and ACI1 was suggested.
